CLERKSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces exercises worldwide appellate jurisdiction over court-martial cases involving U.S. military personnel. The Court has a criminal law docket, and the cases we address cover a broad range of legal issues, including constitutional law, criminal law, evidence, and procedure. Our decisions are subject to direct review by the Supreme Court of the United States. Law clerks perform an important public service in an environment designed to enhance their legal skills. TERM CLERKSHIPS

Judge Hardy is accepting and reviewing applications for a one-year clerkship for the 2024-2025 term. There are three clerkship vacancies. This advertisement will remain in place until the positions have been filled.

Judge Hardy prefers applicants in the top 20% of their class with strong legal writing skills and law review or other journal experience. There is no requirement for prior military service or knowledge of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Interested parties should forward the following documents:

(1) a brief cover letter;
(2) a resume;
(3) an official or unofficial law school transcript;
(4) two letters of recommendation from faculty members or employers; and
(5) a writing sample.
