CLERKSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces exercises worldwide appellate jurisdiction over court-martial cases involving U.S. military personnel. The Court has a criminal law docket, and the cases we address cover a broad range of legal issues, including constitutional law, criminal law, evidence, and procedure. Our decisions are subject to direct review by the Supreme Court of the United States. Law clerks perform an important public service in an environment designed to enhance their legal skills. The Court's web site, http://www.armfor.uscourts.gov, contains additional information about the Court, including recent decisions.

TERM CLERKSHIPS

Judge Ryan is accepting applications for a one-year clerkship for the 2014-15 term beginning June 1, 2013. All applications will be reviewed by Friday, August 2 and calls will be made no earlier than Monday, August 5, 2013.

Judge Ryan prefers applicants in the top 20% of their class with strong legal writing skills. Law review or other journal experience is required. There is no requirement for prior military service or knowledge of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Interested parties should forward the following documents:

(1) a brief cover letter;
(2) a resume;
(3) an official law school transcript (photocopy is acceptable);
(4) two letters of recommendation from faculty members or employers; and
(5) a writing sample.
